Man Awaiting Sentencing For Racketeering Caught With Heroin In Poughkeepsie Raid, Police Say

A monthlong investigation into heroin sales in Dutchess County led to the arrest of a 23-year-old man who was already awaiting sentencing for a separate crime and the seizure of thousands of dollars, police said.

New York State Police investigators arrested Poughkeepsie resident Trequon Dancy on Wednesday, Nov. 7, following the investigation. During a search of his Gray Street home, police seized heroin and approximately $5,000 in cash.

According to police, Dancy had recently pleaded guilty to federal racketeering charges, and was currently awaiting sentencing at the time of his arrest.

Following his arrest, Dancy was arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to appear back in court on Friday, Nov. 9.
